On September 26th, Kris and I made the early morning drive to the hospital for my planned C-section. This C-section was different than any I have had before because it was actually planned. I was SO nervous! We checked into the hospital at 5:30 and I was wheeled into the operating room a few minutes before 7 a.m.
Kris was pretty excited because my doctor permitted him to watch the entire procedure. For both Kale and Liam's birth, the doctor made Kris stay behind the curtain.
Kris tried to give me the play by play of what was going on, but I quickly shut that down! I could see him smiling behind his mask.
Welcome Karson Kristopher, born at 7:27 a.m.! During a C-section, they clear the baby's airway while he is still partially in my body. Weird.
Karson came out screaming and crying, which is a sound every momma wants to hear!
This C-section was so different than any of my others; not only was it planned, but it wasn't an emergency (like Kale's) and didn't happen in the middle of the night (like Liam's). I felt much more alert during this C-section.
Kris got to cut the cord! This was also a first for him.
Karson weighed in at 6 lb, 9 oz and 19 inches long. By far, our smallest baby. Kale and Liam were both over 8 pounds.
I got to hold Karson in the operating room, which was also a different experience.
We were wheeled into recovery together.
We are so blessed to have Karson in our lives. Our little family is complete with the addition of this sweet guy. We appreciate all the prayers for a healthy delivery. We are immensely blessed.
