Karson's Nursery

Karson's nursery is almost complete! It wasn't too difficult this time, since we have essentially everything we need. We did buy new curtains and a new crib. We opted to get a cheap crib this time and buy a nice bedroom set when Karson goes to a big boy bed in a couple of years. My two little helpers love to play with the baby toys in Karson's room.

We used the same bedding from Kale's nursery. He is scared of the animals for some reason and was screaming at me while I was hanging the pictures, "Karson's gonna be scared, mom!" We used the same dresser and changing table that we used in Kale's nursery--not to mention, it is Kris' baby furniture. It still looks amazingly good for 35 years old! The set is very structurally sound with a few dings here and there. I would like to have it refinished at some point in time.

New crib with "scary" bedding--I am waiting on a picture I ordered to go above his crib.

This lovely picture was taken courtesy of Kale.
We are pretty much finished with the nursery! We just have to get a few odds and ends--laundry basket, trash can, and a few picture frames. Oh, and diapers, of course!

Liam's Bike

So, Liam is finally learning to pedal! And just in time for me to pull/push another one around. I have a feeling Santa could be bringing a bike for Christmas this year. He is still slow going, but yesterday was the first day he even made any attempt to pedal.

Father's Day

The boys were so excited to celebrate Father's Day with Kris. We started out shopping and making cards about a week ahead of time. Kale told Kris what he was getting a few times during the week before Father's Day. He doesn't really understand the concept of "secret" yet.

This photo is not turned the right way, but I love it none the less. For one of Kris' gifts, we bought a binder and filled it with sleeves. I hunted for the old Father's Day cards the boys had given Kris and put those in there, then I added a survey from this year, along with handmade cards from the boys. Kris can add cards to the binder each Father's Day and the sleeves will protect the cards from getting damaged.

I loved some of the boys answers on the survey. I asked Kale what his favorite thing about dad was. His answer, " I like it when he bites me." (In other words, he really likes to wrestle). Liam's answers were interesting too. When I asked Liam how old Kris was, he said, "35." Spot on!

For brunch, we went to a restaurant called The Boathouse. It's right on the James River and has great food.

After brunch, we walked along the dock. The boys loved it, but were not as cautious as we would have liked. I definitely had visions of one of them falling in the water. (And the water is FAR from clean.)

On the way home, Liam was mad because he wasn't ready to go to home yet. He gave me this look the whole way home. It's too funny that he is learning to glare already.

After naps (for all of the boys), the little boys played in the sprinkler in the backyard. They played very nicely outside together for well over 30 minutes. That's a record for no fussing and fighting with each other. All in all, a good Father's Day!

We love you, dad! Thanks for taking such good care of us all. We are immensely blessed to be your wife and children.

Slip N Slide Video

This video shows some of the fun the boys had slippin n slidin! The next day I looked at Liam's belly without a shirt on it and it was covered with cuts!! I guess the grass blades cut his stomach and back up. The same thing happened to Kale. Luckily, the cuts weren't  very deep, so they healed quickly.

Home Improvement Projects

We have been working very hard to get some projects done around the house. Liam's room is officially a big boy room!

We have set up his big boy bed, removed the wipes container and the changing pad....that really made me realize how big he was getting. It's been 4 1/2 years since we have been without diapers, wipes, and changing pad in our house. But not to worry--in just 3 months' time, we will have to get those supplies out again!

Kale's room--we moved several of the toys from Kale's room into the playroom on the 3rd floor. We also took out the jungle theme and moved it to the nursery.

Kale was so excited to get new airplane décor for his room. He is in love with airplanes these day.

Can you see the cute little airplane pull hanging from his ceiling fan?

And the 3rd floor! We have done a lot up here. We have placed our guest bed in the corner. We still have to move our TV up there. We also need to hang a few pictures and curtains.

The boys love playing up here! We have 3 closets, which is so nice...2 of the closets are attic space, which hold our Christmas decorations, etc. We decided to equip the other closet with rows of shelving. The shelves hold our office supplies, the boys' games, puzzles, etc. I am so glad we decided to install the additional shelving.

Our little office alcove, also on the 3rd floor.

The space really turned out very nicely. The wall color and carpet look very good. The guy who did most of the upstairs did a great job. And the AC is working nicely! We struggled with deciding what to do with the AC, but decided not to buy a new unit. The existing one is working very well.

Slip N Slide Fun

We set up the slip and slide the other day. The boys weren't quite brave enough to slide down it by themselves, but they loved it when Dad pushed them down the slide.

Kris definitely got a workout! Liam LOVED the slide. Kale wasn't too sure of it, but since baby bro was doing it, he had to as well.
