This weekend we decided to hit the beach. We hadn't been yet this summer and it was a beautiful weekend, so it was the perfect time. Some friends recommended that we try Colonial Beach, which is actually on the Potomac River (it's a salt water river). We decided to give it a try, as we heard it was a lot smaller than Virginia Beach and much less crowded!
The beach was a hidden gem. It was nothing spectacular...but there were very few people there, it was super easy to get to (no traffic), and we could park about 20 feet from where we set up our umbrella. If you look in the background of the picture of Kris from above, you can see the Tahoe. When you go to the beach for a day trip with 2 little ones, you have to pack a lot of stuff and it ends up being a ton to carry. That's why we loved parking so close!
We took the wagon to the beach and took the boys on a walk on the small boardwalk and the pier. They got to see people fishing off the pier and we even managed to be in the right place at the right time and actually saw a guy reeling in a fish!
Kale was EXTREMELY brave in the water. He got in a little too deep a few times.
Everyone had fun digging the sand. Liam, once again, ate more than a little sand.
We headed out to get some ice-cream on the boardwalk. The ice-cream came in little white solo cups. When Liam's melted, he thought it would be more efficient to just drink the ice-cream, so that's what he did!
All sugared up!
