Mom and the Boys

Kris was in Spain for a week last week. I was very nervous about being with both of the boys by myself for the week. I am so big and so tired at this point, that I just wasn't sure how I would do it. I was blessed by many friends who hosted us for dinner or brought meals over.

The boys and I tried to stay busy. We went to the pool one day and enjoyed a picnic lunch.

Liam asks me almost every day if we can have a picnic, so he was excited to eat his lunch at the pool.

We had several rainy days while Kris was gone. We passed the time by painting (and making a big mess)

I also dug out the window markers and the boys enjoyed writing on the glass back door.

We got a special package from my friend, Renee,  with new hats for the boys.

We went to see the new Planes movie. Planes is Kale's favorite movie, so he was PUMPED to go to the theater to see this one. At one point, I thought Dusty was going to die (***spoiler alert--he doesn't!)

Liam did pretty well. As long as he has popcorn he is fine.

Kale loved the movie. As soon as we left, he said, I want to go see that again!

Kris and I had our 7th anniversary while he in Spain....pretty typical. It seems like we are commonly apart on our anniversary. Kris redeemed himself by making sure I had roses.

I did have an unfortunate event while Kris was gone...I was driving home from getting the boys haircuts and it was raining cats and dogs. One of the roads has many, many large trees overhanging the road. A large branch fell onto the roadway in front of me. I obviously hit it. Bummer! Luckily it didn't do any internal damage to the vehicle. There is a little damage to the front of the vehicle that we will have to have repaired. Boo!

Here is the adorable haircut that led to the accident...

And here are the spoils from Spain...lots and lots of wine. I will enjoying this in just 9 weeks or less.

Liam had a consultation with a plastic surgeon last week. He was born with a bump on the back of his head. The bump has continued to grow in size since birth, so we thought we had better get it checked out.

The doctor believes the bump is a cyst. She can't know for sure until the bump is removed and sent to pathology. Liam will have surgery in the coming weeks.

Finally, Kris arrived on Friday evening. We headed out on Saturday morning for a day/night to ourselves. Our wonderful sitter watched the boys overnight and we went for massages, a great lunch, then we sat at our hotel pool for a few hours, before getting ready and heading out for a nice dinner. We stayed in a hotel that night and then got up the next day for brunch. It was a wonderful 24 hours to celebrate 7 years together.

Cow Appreciation Day

We love Chic-fil-a and spend a good bit of time there. A few weeks ago, they had cow appreciation day. Anyone who came dressed as a cow received a free meal.

It truthfully cost more to buy the shirts and paints for this project than the meal would have, but the boys had fun and it was a great way to pass a hot summer afternoon.

Since I am the least creative person in the world, this project was the best I could come up with. I drew spots on the white t-shirts in sharpie, then the boys colored the spots in with paint.

We met some friends at Chic-fil-a for breakfast (it wasn't as busy). The boys got to play and the moms talked, and of course, we took a picture with the famous cow.

The finished product!

After playing at Chic-fil-a, we went to a friend's house to play then headed home for a late lunch and nap. Liam was wet from the sprinkler at the friend's house. He stripped down about the time I set his food on the table. He was so anxious to eat, he couldn't be bothered to put clothes on.

I think this kid prefers to naked. He wears undies only most of the time.

This is a new "game" we learned from a friend. We took different sizes of tubs and buckets, filled them with water and put in cups and bowls and water guns. Then we put the hose on mist. Throw in some old paint brushes so they can "paint" the house with the water and you are all set!

The boys love it! The played outside for almost 2 1/2 hours that day. It was wonderful! I sat my pregnant self in the chair and read a book.

Water Slide

Kale has gotten so good at swimming this summer! The beginning of this video is slow moving...it takes Kale forever to come down the water slide because he's not very heavy, but once he gets down, you can see his swimming skills. By the end of the afternoon, he was able to swim all the way to the steps (about 12 feet from the slide) with no help. We are so proud of him!

27 weeks

I am 27 weeks along...1 week away from the 3rd trimester. Believe me, I already feel like I am there. Breathing is becoming difficult.

Trying to get a good picture with my boys is almost impossible.

I thought Liam looked so cute in these overalls. He did not like them though!

At least Kale was in a good mood!

Can't wait to see you, Karson--September 29th (or sooner--but not too much sooner)!

July 4th

This weekend was full of fun activities! On Friday morning, we headed to the local parade. The boys were SO excited. You can tell from the looks on their faces.

Liam takes after his poppa and likes look at the old cars.

On Friday afternoon and evening, some of our friends came over for a meal and some playtime. The non-pregnant mommies enjoyed some margarita pops.

Kale was very excited that baby Bennett came over for a visit. He LOVES Bennett and is pretty good at making him laugh. I hope he is as good with Karson.

Baby Eddie also made an appearance but slept the entire time.

Kris was in charge of manning the grill. We had a delicious meal!

The next day we cleaned up from our party and headed to the pool. After the pool, we went to a fireworks display that benefits the Wounded Warrior Foundation. We went last year and the display was awesome! It's a fun, low key event with food vendors and bands.

The boys were most excited about the food. We took a picnic then also bought kettle corn AND ice-cream. Lucky boys!!

Rachel and Adeline met us to watch the fireworks.

I love this picture of Liam. He was just chilling, listening to the band. The bagpipes ensemble was his favorite!

Almost ready for the fireworks!

Next year, dad will have to make room for one more boy...

Showtime! Once again, this year's display did not disappoint!
