Snow Days...And Lots of 'Em!

A week ago this last Thursday, we woke up to a surprise snow! We had a couple of inches and the boys were overjoyed! Kale wanted to go out and build a snowman. I bundled them all up and they headed outside. Of course, they didn't last long since we don't have the right gear. Kale fell down in the snow, which of course, made him wet and he was done! They made it a whooping 10 minutes in the snow!!

We also received a few inches this Tuesday night. You would not believe the schools and businesses around here. It didn't start snowing on Tuesday until 5 p.m., yet schools were out all day long in preparation for the snow. The kids then had the REST of the week off because of snow! I mean, we maybe got 2 inches and roads were completely clear after the first day. It was pretty insane if you ask me.

I did take the boys out sledding, which they enjoyed. I dressed them up better for sledding...they each wore 2 shirts and 2 pants, 3 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of gloves, coats, hats, and scarfs. I wanted to make sure they lasted longer than 10 minutes this time! We never made that snow man though. Kris said the snow was too cold...which really didn't make much sense to me, but I can honestly say I have never made a snowman in my life. I am kinda like Kale, if I get cold and wet, I am ready to go inside.

The boys had to warm their bums by the fire when we came inside.

I have had to be REALLY creative to come up with things to do since we have been inside non-stop and pre-k has also been cancelled. We had a movie and popcorn morning one day.

We have spent lots of time playing with playdough (which my boys could do for hours). We have also painted, colored, and stickered and almost every available piece of paper in the house.

We have gone to the Children's Museum, went for playdates at friends' houses, jumped at Monkey Joe's, gone to the library...I am basically out of ideas. I hope the weather warms up soon so we can get outside! This southern girl can't take these cold temps much longer!

New Boots

This weekend I had a few meetings for work. That left the boys to their own devices. Apparently, Kale managed to talk Kris into a mini shopping spree. The boys got some new clothes, pjs, and rain boots.

Kale was so excited to get boots. He has never had any before and was so excited to get a pair.

These pictures aren't the best quality because Kris took them from his phone, but the boys expressions are priceless!

Christmas Eve Pictures

On Christmas Eve, there was a professional photographer waiting after the service to take pictures of those families who wanted. I was so happy that this was available! It made getting a family picture of all 4 of us possible!

Kale's First Sleepover

Kale's buddy, Walker, came over for a playdate/sleepover. This was the first time Kale has had a friend over for an extended period of time. Kale met Walker because Walker's grandparents lived next door at us at our lease house. Kale was so excited about Walker coming to visit, that he talked about it for days ahead of time!

Kris bundled the boys up and took them on a tractor ride. The boys loved this!

Walker is older than Kale (he just turned 5). Walker is also a great eater...turns out peer pressure is sometimes a positive thing. Coincidentally, Kale was a great eater that night, as well.

After some play time, the boys spread out on the floor to eat popcorn and candy and watch Monster's University.

They are getting tired here. Liam did not make until the end.

They went to bed pretty well. I did hear some giggles on the monitor and eventually had to move Kale to our room to fall asleep, but after that, everyone went down okay. Walker did wake up at midnight, crying. We got him calmed down and he went back to sleep okay. The next day we went to church, then to the children's museum and out to lunch. I think everyone had a good time. By the end of the day on Sunday, I think the boys were getting on each other's nerves though. Both Kale and Liam took great naps that day! That means mom took a great nap, too!!

Happy 2014!

Our New Year's Eve plans have changed a little over the years. During the day, we went to brunch, did a little shopping, went to the wine store :),  took down the Christmas tree and lights outside, and just kind of hung out.

In the evening, we watched the movie Planes with the boys and they feasted on candy and popcorn. (in the picture above, Liam refused to look at me b/c he was scrounging for the m & m s in his popcorn.)  The boys went to bed at their normal time, around 8 p.m. I made a delicious new pasta dish and appetizers that Kris and I enjoyed together after the boys went to bed. We drank some good wine and watched a few episodes of Boardwalk Empire (great series if you haven't watched it, yet). And we actually made it until midnight!!! This is the first time in awhile that I have made it that late. :)

As far as New Year's Resolutions, neither of us really have any...we are not too good at them. I am going to try to stop drinking as many sodas (I drink one a day...I'd like to drink like 2 per week) and I am going to try to stop eating so late at night. Since I work in the evenings, I often come home and eat dinner at 10 p.m. This is making me fat!! My dad says I need to make calling him more my New Year's Resolution, so I will add that to the list, as well.

We were very, very blessed in 2013. We are counting on 2014 being an amazing year as well!!

Free Bed!!

The MOPs group that I am in has a facebook page for posting items you want to sell, trade, or give away. I got rid of several things when we moved here by posting them on the site.

One of the girls in the group is pregnant and preparing for the baby, so her guest room is becoming a nursery. She posted the king bed from her guest room on the FB page for just $50!!! As soon as I saw it, I knew we had to get it! We had been talking about buying a king mattress for guest room, and $50!!! What a deal! Luckily, this girl only lives like 2 streets away from us, too. So on Sunday, when Kris was helping a friend move, I called and told him to take the U-Haul trailer when they were finished to go pick up our new bed! This is a great find, as it will really come in handy when we have family and friends visiting!
